Up Close and PersonalPaul is aggressive, determined, and skilled at representing his clients' interests in and out of court. He had only been practicing law for six years when he found his name at the top of a list in an annual publication on Pennsylvania's legal profession. Paul's client won a complete defense verdict, while the jury awarded a $40.5 million judgment, the largest dollar award that year, against the other co-defendants.
A native of New Castle, Paul grew up in the construction business with his family still active in the electrical contracting. With his inside knowledge from his own experience hammering nails and wiring buildings at construction sites, Paul is a sought-after defense attorney regarding worksite injuries and risk management.
Paul attended a rural western Pennsylvania high school, and then went to Edinboro University where he majored in criminal justice. He went straight to law school in Boston, graduating cum laude from the New England School of Law. He was also the editor-in-chief of the New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement. He clerked at Meyer Darragh during the summer of 1991 and joined the firm's Pittsburgh office on graduation in 1992. In 1997, he became a partner, and he currently chairs the firm's product liability and transportation groups.
A dedicated trial attorney, Paul's practice includes all aspects of transportation law, defending product liability claims involving consumer products, major equipment, and recreational vehicles, construction and commercial disputes, and insurance related issues.
A golfer and avid mountain biker who has trekked through the mountains of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Paul and his wife, Laura, a trained paralegal, live with their three children, Abigail, Thomas, and John, in Churchill.
